Lou Ros (b. 1984, Pithiviers, France) lives and works in Paris. Ros paints landscapes and birds on canvases ranging from small to large scale, using layered applications of acrylic and pastel. Often closely framed, his subjects appear familiar yet indistinct, as though recalled from memory.
With few signs of human presence or built structures, his landscapes move between recognisable scenery and abstraction. Rather than depicting places with literal realism, Ros captures shifting experiences of light, space and time. His paintings are contemplative and sensory, shaped as much by memory and feeling as by observation.
His recent solo exhibitions include Twilly (2025) and Abri (2023) at Galerie Romero Paprocki, Paris, and Showroom at Night Gallery, Los Angeles (2023). He undertook a residency at Villa Tamaris, La Seyne-sur-Mer, in 2020.
His works are held in the collections of Château de Forbin, Marseille; Greenline Foundation, Paris; Arsenal Contemporary Art, Montréal; Villa Tamaris, La Seyne-sur-Mer; and Taittinger, Reims.
